The biggest strength of my speech was that I tried to pronounce exactly each word and express exactly my information as long as I can, even if I couldn’t speak English very well. As you see my presentation, to achieve this goals, I spoke English pretty slowly, which let peers understand my words. Also, the volume of my speech was pretty appropriate to convey the content that I wanted to let audience know to the classmates. In addition, it seemed that my posture and gestures during the presentation was pretty natural to the peers. Although I have the handicap with speaking English, I really tried to do presentation the best. I love the enthusiasm by myself.
However, the biggest weakness of my speech was that I could not make the eye contact with many peers and professor a lot because I somewhat got nervous and did not have confidence on having eye contact at that time. I think it might also give audience tension and make them not focus on my presentation. Also, the organization of the speech was somewhat silly and awkward because I think I just planned to speak easy words, sentence, and organization than other peers during the presentation, which resulted in the poor grade on the organization of evaluation sheet. This is because when preparing for the presentation, I thought, if easy word and sentence are used, it might be easier way for peers in class to understand what I saying. I did not know that evaluation sheets might contain organization. Finally, my presentation is just for 4mintues 21 seconds including my hesitation. It means that content in presentation was very lack and short.
By watching the presentation you recorded, I get to know the important thing. I remembered that my posture and gestures was really natural and good. I took a good grade on this idem for granted. However, in my opinion, I think that some behavior and attitudes during presentation was weird and strange because I crossed my leg and touch my hair again and again. If next time I get opportunity to do presentation, I will definitely fix this problem.
I learned a lot of things I should have done and have to fix in the St.Martin’s handbook. First of all, next time, I am going to make introduction to get more audience’s feeling and attention. In former time, I just started to speak my main ideas without the introduction. To achieve this goal, I will take the introduction into consideration and organize my content based on logical flow. Also, to get the confidence on presentation, I am going to prepare for that for a long time and practice that, setting the time until being done very well. Also, for audiences to understand my purpose and main ideas of presentation easily and quickly, I will prepare for necessary visuals and audios with the power point program. I would also expect these kinds of materials to help peers focus more on my presentation, not being distracted. Through this assignment, I feel like that I can overcome the disadvantages of presentation.
