The place I chose for my blog entry was Smith playground. I chose this place because it seemed so out of the ordinary. Why would there be a playground on a college campus? So I set out to discover what went on in this area. The days that I went I saw a lot of different things that can’t be noticed if you do not look at the place over a period of time. The loudest thing was the noises coming from the air conditioners. They seemed to run non-stop every day I went. The weather was pretty warm most of the time and I seemed to sweat quite a bit. Since there hasn’t been any rain for the last couple of weeks the grass went through a change. Everything seemed to be turning brown. I did happen to see squirrels and birds, but no butterflies. A paper plate and a Lays potato chip bag were laying on the sand behind the swing set. There were still children on the swings each time I went there surprisingly. They only seem to be there in the evening. The children I saw were all foreign and spoke different languages. Didn’t see any more beetles only bugs that could fly. It’s cool how this one spot had so many occurrences going on and around it. I never saw them from far away. It just goes to show that small things can’t be noticed unless you put forth the effort to find them. I’ll probably never go back to that spot for the rest of my college career, but I’ll definitely remember everything about it. All these small events that go on in this spot make our everyday lives. From the air conditioning units to the bugs crawling on the ground, they all they are all a part of life. This park showed me that you never know what you are going to run into and that you should always be on the look out for that little unexpected spot when you travel or are just taking a walk. These places give you the opportunity to experience a special feeling or event when you least expect it.
