In light of the fact that we spent some time talking about donating to charities in class yesterday I thought I might take this opportunity to tell you about one that I personally support. Fisherhouse is an organization similar to Ronald McDonald House except that it is for the military and their families. Specifically right now it supports OEF/OIF wounded war vets. With the understanding that people recover quicker when they have their loved ones nearby, Fisher House was started to help those that didn't have the means to travel across the world or country to be with their loved while hospitalized.
I have included two links below. One gives details on Fisher House locations (projected and current).
http://www.fisherhouse.org/aboutUs/fisherHouseFacts.pdf The other link is to the tax returns for last year which also has previous year's data on it. I didn't do the calculations but of about 23 mil raised 2 mil went to business related expenses.

http://www.fisherhouse.org/aboutUs/fisherBio. I had the opportunity to spend a considerable amount of time with some of the men and their families at Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Ft. Gordon, Ga. I can't imagine the relief it must have brought to these families not having to worry about the financial burden that comes from extended hotel stays. There are many that wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise.
I raise money for team Fisher House once a year for the Marine Corps Marathon. It makes me very happy to know that none of the money I raise is being spent on the team. All of our gifts come from sponsors. They are listed on the website.
If anyone would like to donate there is a link on the website for donations.
