Fine Arts
For this assignment I chose to sit on the leather chairs at the fine arts library to observe the area behind the building through the large glass windows. This view is one of my favorites on campus because there is a lot of activity and a nice view of the landscape around the student center and the Singletary center. This is a view I am fairly familiar with because i frequent this spot between classes during the school year. It is not nearly as busy in the Summer, as I observed the calmer side of campus. It is usually a very high traffic area, but today I pay close attention to the little things going on around me. I hear the sound of papers shuffling and computers typing. There is an older man closest to me reading his newspaper, crinkling it seemingly loud in comparison to the silence. He looked to be a professor. Through the glass I see the green grass in the background, with the one way road and the driveway up to the library in the forefront. I see a white community truck drive slowly down the black pavement that is lined with neon yellow caution paint. There are students drudging to class by themselves, while others are rushing to get back home. There are bikers zooming down the hill, most seem to be pretty confident in their ability to dodge people and traffic. I like this view because it is always changing. I know that I have been a part of that view many times because it is my regular route home, but it is funny to see everything from another perspective. There are things I may not notice if I were a part of this scenery, like the metal art that landscapes the view, which is relaxing to observe as you relax.
