Blog Assignment 2
I made a video of the registration office door. It’s quite a location. It is filled with all of the noises that nobody really wants to pay attention to. There’s the constant opening and closing of doors. You can hear the creak of the bathroom door, followed by the slamming of a stall door, a brief silence (thank goodness), and then a toilet flushing. At random intervals there’s the sound of footsteps; sometimes it’s the flipping and flopping of sandals, other times it’s the clickity-clock of heels. Every once in a while the flipping and flopping comes in chorus with the chatter of a cell phone conversation then, there’s a pause in front of my door. The flip-flops flip and flop around, turning in circles and then the chorus breaks for a solo, ‘Could you please tell me where the registration office is, please?’ It’s amazing the amount of people who overlook the giant blue directional sign. I believe that this 10 minutes reinforced the mass disconnection I see everyday on campus. I tried walking on campus between classes with headphones in for one week, just to see what it was like. I felt invisible and vulnerable. How in the world could I fend off a ninja attack if I couldn’t hear the ninja coming from behind?!
